Vintage Dexter mountable pencil sharpener invented by Charles C. Spengler and manufactured by APSCO. This is Dexter model number 3-A, which was introduced in 1948 and production of the model ceased in 1953. The Dexter series of pencil sharpeners were sold for about eighty (80) years. The body of the sharpener and the frame for the shavings catcher were made of nickel-plated steel and the shaver catcher body was made of celluloid. The crank handle and the six (6) pencil selector disc are made of a zinc alloy. The pencil sharpener is in good working condition with all parts complete.
